150,000 Race Calls and Counting...

For our cross-over harness racing fans, here’s a nice clip on The Meadows’ race caller Roger Huston who hit a milestone this week. During his 49 year career, Roger has now called 150,000 races. Growing up in the shadows of The Meadows, his was the first race calling voice—in either thoroughbred or Standardbred circles—I recall with distinction, and what a great voice it is! Congratulations, Roger. Here’s the race call in its entirety:

Nice clip. 150,000 calls over 49 years. Amazing. And they're still exciting and interesting.

The Meadows was the second race track I ever visited, after Waterford Park. I'm amazed it's the same guy calling the races.
